Oatmeal that doesn’t suck

If you’ve had a terrible oatmeal eating experience raise your hand. Without a doubt I’m willing to bet that this is something that everyone can relate to. I’m going to crown oatmeal as one of the most consistently overcooked foods. If you’re used to mushy flavorless slop then it’s time to turn that frown upside down and do oatmeal the right way. Follow me to oatmeal paradise where oatmeal is sweet, salty, and rich. Get ready for this next part. It ACTUALLY has texture. Let’s jump into the recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup Rolled Oats
1 cup Milk or Plant Milk
3 tbsp Brown Sugar
2 tbsp Butter
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Salt to taste

Toppings:
Banana slices
Blueberries
Strawberries
Peanut butter
Pepitas

Directions:

  1. Add the rolled oats and milk to a medium sized sauce pan, heat over medium high heat
  2. When the liquid is almost all gone turn off the heat. Stir in the butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and salt
  3. Spoon oatmeal into your favorite bowl. Top with banana slices, strawberry slices, blueberries, peanut butter, and pepitas.
  4. Enjoy!
